FAQ's
Analytics does not pull directly from your application database; instead, your data is replicated into an Analytics-specific data lake so that application performance is not compromised. Data is refreshed every 24 hours.
How much data will be available?
At least three years of data will be included to support historical analysis, initially focusing on venue and event sales and revenue.
What fields are you pulling data from in the standard dashboards?
In the Observe knowledge base articles (linked above) there are tables describing at a high level how the metrics in the standard dashboards are derived. In the Analytics itself, there is a data glossary for each Observe dashboard noting specific data tables and fields. To populate the standard dashboards, those fields must be used. If you are not using those fields, an option is to duplicate the standard dashboard and customize it for your data usage. Reach out to your primary Momentus contact for an understanding of how your use of the Enterprise application aligns with the standard dashboards.
How will different definitions of metrics be handled?
Momentus will define the business logic for metrics. If your business uses different logic or different data models in the application, you can create customized dashboards with the Empower Analytics Report Builder Add On. Note that not all data in the application database is replicated into the Analytics data lake.
How will UDFs (User-Defined Fields) be handled?
Custom fields (UDFs) are not supported at this time. UDFs are very difficult to manage in a standard way. Customizations to reports with data stored in UDFs can be provided via a services engagement. In the future we will explore how to best surface these in the models so that the Empower add-on can be used.
What languages are supported?
English, French, and German are supported.
Are different dictionary definitions for fields supported?
Not at this time, but we are planning this as a future update.
Is this replacing other reporting tools such as Crystal, Dev Express, or Standard Reports?
No. This is a new suite of analytics reports and capabilities. They use a completely different architecture and the levels of data freshness are not real time. We will continue to support all current reporting solutions. We will, however, look to review and use the best tool for the job.
How is Analytics different from Ask Mo Data?
Ask Mo Data is designed for quick answers to business questions. Use Ask Mo for one-off questions and instant answers. Analytics is where you track long term trends and see patterns.
How is Momentus Analytics different from these standard offerings?
- Enhanced visualizations with interactive dashboards.
- Natural language querying: Ask data questions with text and receive insights.
- Automated insights: The system spots patterns and trends in data so you don’t have to mine for it.
- Community collaboration capabilities: Tag and comment on your metrics.
What reports will be available in the first release?
- Sales Performance: Tracks performance metrics and trends.
- Revenue Trends: Analyzes financial outcomes and forecasts future earnings.
- Sales Funnel: Visualizes sales pipeline and conversion stages.
What about reports for other areas such as Operations and Financials?
For the initial release, we are focused on Sales. After, the plan is to add additional scope into the analytics model incrementally. For well-used modules, we will create corresponding data models that enable users to then have more analytics reports for these additional areas.
Are on-premises customers or those on non-support releases able to use Analytics?
No, customers must be on a supported product version to use the solution.
